Our Ethos

Nurturing curious minds through care, creativity, health, safety, and sustainability.

At Early Years Uxbridge, our goal is to create enchanting, enabling environments where children can explore, discover, and learn in their own unique way. Our ethos is built around five core themes that shape our nursery design, daily routines, and every interaction with the children:

Active Childhoods

Encouraging movement, play, and exploration every day.

Safety Culture

Prioritising a secure, nurturing space for every child.

Healthy Eating

Promoting balanced, nutritious meals and healthy habits.

Loving The Planet

Instilling care for the environment from an early age.

Evolving With Time

Continuously growing and adapting to meet every child’s needs.

Active Childhood

At Early Years Day Nursery, we believe that an active lifestyle begins in childhood. Young children are naturally energetic and curious, and we aim to nurture this by creating opportunities for movement, play, and physical exploration throughout the day.

As children grow, their participation in physical activity can often decline due to academic pressures, screen time, or limited access to sports and outdoor play. That’s why it's essential to establish healthy habits early on, not just for physical development, but for lifelong well-being.

We actively encourage physical activity at our nursery through a wide range of fun and engaging experiences. From weekly in house dance lessons to outdoor group games and walks to the local park, our team creates dynamic environments that support every child’s need to move. By making physical activity a joyful part of their daily routine, we’re helping build strong foundations for a healthy, balanced future.

Safety Culture

At Early Years Day Nursery, the safety of every child is our highest priority. We believe that creating a strong safety culture is essential—not just for protecting children, but for empowering them to understand and respect their environment.

Fire Safety

We take fire safety seriously. Our nursery is equipped with a modern fire detection and alarm system, tested weekly for complete reliability. Full fire drills are held every two months, with our evacuation times consistently meeting or exceeding our 2-minute goal.

All staff receive regular fire awareness training, and members of our leadership team are qualified Fire Marshals. We also invite local firefighters to visit the nursery, providing an exciting and educational experience that reinforces fire safety in a memorable way.

At Early Years Day Nursery, we’re committed to creating a secure, well-prepared environment where children feel safe, confident, and cared for every day.

Healthy Eating

Building Positive Food Habits for Life

At Early Years Day Nursery, we promote healthy eating habits from a young age to support each child’s well-being and lifelong health. Early food experiences play a vital role in shaping future choices around nutrition, taste, and lifestyle.

Our balanced, nutritious meals are carefully planned across a 3-week rotating menu. Inspired by global cuisines, our dishes reflect the diversity of our nursery and encourage children to explore new flavours. We also accommodate dietary needs and teach children about nutrition in fun, engaging ways.

Little Chefs Programme

To further spark interest in food and nutrition, we have introduced our Little Chefs sessions. Small groups of children get hands-on experience in simple cooking and baking activities, while also observing our nursery chef at work. These interactive experiences teach children about ingredients, food groups, and recipes, while also developing teamwork, fine motor skills, and a real love for food.

At Early Years Day Nursery, we’re not just feeding children — we’re helping them form a healthy, happy relationship with food for life.

Loving The Planet

At Early Years Day Nursery, we teach children to care for the planet through everyday actions. Sustainability is central to our approach, from eco-friendly resources to nature-based learning, encouraging respect, responsibility, and environmental awareness from an early age. Our nursery uses natural materials and promotes green habits that nurture lifelong eco-conscious values.

Community Playthings

Our furniture is crafted from sustainable beech wood by a Sussex-based community, offering safe, hygienic, and adaptable designs that support creativity, comfort, and child development in eco-conscious environments.

Planting Seeds for the Future

Children engage in growing plants, fruits, and vegetables—learning about nature, food origins, and sustainability while developing responsibility, patience, and respect for the environment.

Evolving with Time

At Early Years Day Nursery, we embrace the evolving role of technology in education. We provide children with opportunities to explore and learn through modern tools, while also teaching them how to use technology safely and responsibly. Our approach ensures they are prepared for the future in a digitally connected world.

SMART Interactive Whiteboard

Children in our Toddler and Preschool groups enjoy our SMART Interactive Whiteboard, which makes learning fun and engaging. It supports hands-on exploration, digital interaction, creativity, and collaborative group play.

Electronic Journals

We use a dedicated app to record observations and reduce paper usage. This eco-friendly approach supports more focused care, faster communication with parents, and easy access to children’s developmental progress.

Security

We use CCTV and secure video entry systems to protect your child throughout the day. Technology helps us monitor who enters the building, ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times.
